Cut, Kit, Teach, & Submit

Can I just tell you how much I LOVE my Cricut Expressions?

 
I made 27 kits last week for my class and had to cut "is for you" 27 times and I did it all in less than 10 minutes and only used one sheet of 12 x 12 cardstock! It was absolutely fabulous! What the heck took me so long to get one? Now, if only they could invent a machine that could collate and put things into kits for me, I would be set! THANK SO MUCH to all MY GIRLS for getting this for me for my birthday. BTW girls, if you haven't already received your mahalo cards, they are waiting for you at The Scrapbook Garden.

My husband did some research recently and found some software called Sure Cuts A Lot by Craft Edge designed to cut true type fonts from your computer using USB cables to connect to the Cricut machines. We downloaded a 10-day trial which cuts horizontal lines through your design so that you can't use the diecut. The designs look great and cuts really nicely. Tuan even uploaded my Lytle Scrapper logo and it cut that out really well. But those horizontal lines cut really deeply. I had to get a replacement mat and blade because of it. I am wondering if that pressure will go away or if the pressure is controllable with the purchase of the software. I think it's really worth while if that is the case. Has anyone out there purchased this software or tried playing with it?

Class on Saturday was absolutely delightful. I had the BEST group of girls there and we had a wonderful morning staying cool and enjoying chocolate covered strawberries. And now, Ladies & Gentlemen... DRUM ROLL PLEASE... I have finally got off my tush and took some action on that second New Year's Resolution of mine. I submitted some work to a couple of magazines for possible publication! Anyone who knows me, knows that this is tiny step in the publication process {to actually SUBMIT something} is BIG for me. So keep your fingers and toes crossed for me as I am waiting to hear from them. I am truly grateful to all of you who believed in me, supported me, and have encouraged me to pursue this. I am so thankful to have all of you in my life.

All My Love TLC Class at SBG

Join me on Saturday, June 21st from 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM at The Scrapbook Garden for the next installment of TLC Classes = Tag, 2-page Layout, and Card. The idea is to use your tag and card as part of a gift, then scrapbook the event with your layout. This class would be perfect for weddings, anniversaries, or just to say "i love you" to that special someone in your life. If you took my With Love accordian book, this class matches perfectly with that project.

 

We will be using papers from Creative Imaginations with stamps and embellishments from Heidi Swapp. This class is loaded with bling, buttons, brads, and flowers {oh my!}. You will learn techniques in distressing, matting, stamping, and both wet and dry embossing. Space is limited so call the store at 714.841.1801 or stop by the store and check it out in person. Catching Up on Life...

She's alive and she's living life! So let me bring you up to speed... Tuan and I celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary at the end of April with a weekend getaway to Temecula wine country. We stayed at the South Coast Winery and went on a wine tasting tour through the Grapeline... highly recommend this quick little getaway if you're in Southern California!

I just celebrated my 30th birthday on May 5th! I didn't think turning 30 was going to affect me much. Most all of my friends are over thirty, so I already feel older than I really am. Anyway, I decided to get a make over...so I went and chopped all my hair off {donated it to Locks of Love}... except I didn't want it to be THIS short. It was fine leaving the salon... {it's always fine leaving the salon, isn't it?} but the next morning it was WAAAY TOO SHORT and I looked in the mirror and thought, "I look like my mother." I told my girlfriends, Kim and Lisette this story and they said, "Welcome to your thirties!"

May turned out to be birthday month this year. Tuan took me to a restaurant called the Napa Rose at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel and he also had a couple of Lytle Scrapper shirts made for me. Kim and Lisette kid-knapped me to San Diego to see Alicia Keys in concert... that was totally awesome! To put into perspective for all you scrappers... that goes right up there with meeting Heidi Swapp. Melissa hosted a birthday crop for me with all of my closest scrapbooking friends at The Scrapbook Garden and we had such a blast! All the girls pitched in and got me a Cricut Expressions! I am so lucky to have all of these wonderful people in my life. This was definitely one of the BEST birthdays ever! I also tried working on that second New Year's resolution of mine... get published. However, I got a little over-ambitious and took on too much too soon and did not make the deadline... but I will keep trying. Meanwhile, tons of product is coming in from different vendors... you know what this means, ladies? MORE CLASSES! So keep your eyes peeled...
